Name: Mamoshet Areda
School: Bole AddisPrimary School
Mamosh was born in Zewaye. Here he lived with his mother and father and one sister and one brother who are 9 (sister) and 17 (brother).
His father was a carpenter and his mother made corn, and tried to sell it on the streets in the evenings. His mom and dad were at work most of the time, and Mamosh was at home alone after school a lot. He had a lot of free time so he would watch TV and play soccer alone away from the house.
He would often come home late and be in trouble with his parents. He left the house because of continually fighting with them, and on account of not agreeing with them. When he left he started to live on the street in Zewaye for one week working as an assistant to a public taxi driver in his village.
When he worked this job he was able to save enough money to travel to Addis, which took him about 6 hours by bus.He came to Addis and someone gave him 10 bir for food, but instead, Mamosh took a taxi to Sidist Kilo. When he got there he would sleep on the street for 2 days and then he met Yalew around this village. Yalew and Mamoshet came to Megenagna together.
Here, he was looking to start the same job that he had in Zewaye, but at night he was sleeping on the bridge with the other boys that are currently at Hold My Hand. However, he was saving money again, and then went to the Shola house with Yalew for about 10 days. Here he became friends with Zemete and Dani. They told him that he could sleep at the current Hold My Hand house which was in Yeka at that time.
Mamosh asked Hold My Hand if he could join Zemete and Dani, and Hold My Hand said yes, while trying to figure out the situation. Mamosh doesn’t want to return to his family in Zewaye, because he says he doesn’t feel comfortable at home. Mamosh says there is no one his age, so he feels bored. His family would provide for him in Zewaye and he was enrolled in school. He had to start from 1st grade again when he came to Addis and Hold My Hand because he didn’t have any paperwork to prove he was in school while living in Zewaye. When he was in school there, he was in 3rd grade.
Hold My Hand is trying to work toward reunification. Hold My Hand is attempting to organize a visit to Zewaye with Mamoshet, so his family knows he is okay. And after things get settled he will be reunified.
